What are Network Packet Brokers?
Network packet brokers are devices for monitoring and analyzing network traffic. The main advantage of brokers is that they offer a single solution for collecting, processing and distributing network traffic across on-premises and cloud environments. Broker features include performance monitoring, balancing, deduplication, decryption, and application and security threat analysis.
What tasks network packet brokers perform
They optimize and filter network traffic, eliminate blind spots, distribute load, and support high-speed connections up to 400 Gbps. Brokers aggregate and combine traffic, which can then be filtered, deduplicated and optimized to enable more efficient use of security and performance tools.
Network packet brokers help reduce the cost of network monitoring when there are multiple collection points and high data rates. It also eliminates the need for multiple monitoring tools on the network.
